Give a brief introduction of yourself.
I’m a 20-year-old business student from Karachi and currently studying in Islamabad. I love spending time with my friends, going for long drives, cooking, and listening to songs. Also, I love spending time with my cats.
How did the idea of starting your food venture come about?
I’ve always enjoyed cooking food for my family and friends. When I started trying out new dishes during quarantine, everyone encouraged me to make a page and post it there. Initially, I was posting on social media, but what started as a hobby became a small food venture as people from all over Karachi wanted to know whether I would be selling my food.
As it is mentioned on your page that you’re self-taught, so how is it different from been trained in a culinary institution?
There is a big difference as trained chefs are taught in detail about the appropriate steps and cooking methods or baking depending on their chosen course.
These culinary courses are experienced and knowledgeable as compared to those who are just cooking at home. I learned through trial and error, watching YouTube videos, and reading blogs. Moreover, noting down what works and what does not and what flavours work best according to my palate.
What three ingredients do you think are essential in your kitchen?
Garlic, Cilantro, and Chilli are the three ingredients that have to be in my kitchen.
These three ingredients can make a spectacular pasta dish. Even a simple bowl of ramen can become truly delightful if these simple and readily available ingredients are added.
Where do you draw your creative inspiration from?
It really comes from food that brings me comfort personally and something I know I would like. This comes from trial, error, watching videos and trying out recipes from some of my favorite chefs, such as Jamie Oliver.
How do you control the consistency and quality of the dishes for ensuring customer satisfaction?
I prepare all orders, so I only take a limited number of them. I ask customers to pre-order so that they are sent out fresh and on time. It gives me complete control over the quality of food.
Name any three kitchen tools that you can’t do without
A chef’s knife, a Microplane, and a rubber spatula are my mandatory tools.
What is your most favourite dish (food) to prepare?
Any noodle or pasta dish. They are delicious and super easy to make. I believe noodles and pasta will surely fulfil your yummy food appetite.
What is your signature dish? What do people love about it
Spaghetti Aglio e olio is the sticky, garlicky, zesty, and slightly spicy olive oil-based sauce. It is paired with herb grilled chicken. The dish is always a hit among customers and friends. It is not too heavy and is loved by everyone who has ever tried it.
