How to Deal with the Patients with Muscular Dystrophy?
Have you ever heard of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)? Well, you are at the right place. First of all, let me clarify that it is not a disease. When dystrophin in muscles is reshaped, it causes Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in a child.
According to research, Duchenne affects boys. In most cases, there are scarce results where girls are affected. The question is that why girls are not affected? A girl gets two different genes, i.e. XX, from her parents. If she receives one defective gene from a parent, the other gene from another parent would not be affected.
The unaffected gene is strong enough to overcome the affected genes. Therefore, girls stay safe from Duchenne. In the case of boys, they receive an X gene from their mother and a Y gene from their father. Both genes they carry are affected, which is why their muscles become weaker.
There other three types of muscular dystrophy are Becker, Limb-girdle, and Distil. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is not painful. According to few doctors, it can cause due to genetic disorders.
- Boys who suffer Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy are late walkers.
- Duchenne patients require strong support while walking.
- They face trouble while climbing stairs or standing up from the floor as well.
- Abnormality caused by dystrophin can affect the brain, therefore resulting in slow learning and developing process.
- The heart of the patients with muscular dystrophy becomes weaker.
