Grade 9-12 Students To Be Assessed in Optional Subjects Only:

Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister of Education, announced in a press conference that the student of grade 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th would be assessed in optional subjects and math only. Moreover, the decisions were announced after the meeting of inter-provincial education ministers.

Reason for Conducting Optional Subjects Exams:

According to the education minister, assessing students based on optional subjects is that the students aiming to choose a selected field could be evaluated based on optional subjects.

Decisions for Ninth and Matric Grades:

  • Assessments of optional subjects and math would be taken.
  • Subjects include: computer science or biology, physics, chemistry, and math
  • Date of Exams: after 10th July.

Decisions for 11th and 12th Grades:

  • Grade 11 and 12 will be examined on optional subjects only.

Important Announcements:

  • Grade 10 and 12 exams will be on priority.
  • Grade 9 and 11 exams will start after the completion of matric and intermediate exams.
  • Marks distribution: Marks’ percentage in the optional subjects would be allocated proportionately to the other exam-exempted subjects.

  • No student will be promoted without examination this year.
  • Education institutions will provide some study gaps to ease the examination preparation for students.
  • Examination Result: Expected in the third week of September
  • For Teachers: Vaccination is a must for invigilators
  • For A-level students: Universities have been asked to consider A-level students, who will attempt exams in October and November, for provisional admission
  • Universities and Institutions would be urged to allow the entry test of engineering, MDCAT, and other disciplines for students who are about to give exams in the upcoming months
  • Final Decision: These decisions are final and will not be reviewed anymore

  • For University students: All universities would be permitted to re-open from Monday.

  • Sindh would not follow the exam schedule stated by Shafqat Mahmood, said Saeed Ghani.
  • The provincial education department will issue the exam schedule for Sindh in the next few days, he added.

Grade 9-12 Students To Be Assessed in Optional Subjects Only: While addressing the press conference in Karachi, Ghani said that the Sindh Government would follow the decisions taken during the inter-provincial education ministers’ meeting. The assessment would examine grades 9 and 10, optional subjects and maths. While 11 and 12 would be analysed based on optional issues only.
