Will Pakistan Shake Hands with Israel?
If you live in Pakistan or know about Pakistan, then you must be aware that there are some critical topics in Pakistan due to the emotional sentiments of the people, as the issue of Ahmadis and the issue of recognising Israel as a state. From time to time people of Pakistan have been tested by internal and external forces to check their sentimental attachment with these issues.
In recent times other Muslim countries like U.A.E, Bahrain, Sudan, Morocco and Bhutan have accepted Israel. After their acceptance, many renowned people in Pakistan have started to support the opinion on acceptance of Israel, which has now created some fuss on Pakistan’s tables. However, Pakistan has an evident cut policy regarding Israel.
In Lucknow, October 1917, the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League in their meeting showed their concerns against the division of Muslim unity. Moreover, PML showed concern over conspiracies against Khilafat of Muslims. Sultan Abdul Hamid turned out to be the last Khalifah for Muslims and the Ottoman empire. PML strictly oppose and condemned Jewish and Zionist policies. Not only PML condemned their act of division, but they were of the view that the division of Baghdad and Jerusalem is the division of the Muslim world.
The Stance of the Founder of Pakistan:
Founder of Pakistan Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on 12 October 1945 stated that,
“Every woman and man of Muslim Ummah will die before the jurisdiction of Jerusalem. I hope that Jews will not succeed in their imperious designs, and I wish Britain and America should keep their hands off and then see how the Jews conquer Jerusalem. The Jews over half a million have already been accommodated against the wishes of the people. May I know which other country has accommodated them? If domination and exploitation are carried now there will be no peace and end of war”.
The founder of Pakistan gave this statement even before the creation of Pakistan. In his other statement, he said,
“Israel is an illegitimate baby of the West”.
When Pakistan came into being, news about the possible existence of Israel was surrounding all over. In the last week of August 1947, a conference was held in Cairo (Egypt) just after a few days of Pakistan’s independence. Jinnah sent the delegation to represent Muslims of Pakistan under the supervision of Abdul Rehman Siddiqui and Khaliq uz Zaman, which represented Pakistan in Cairo where Grand Mufti of Palestine Al Hussaini was also present.
Not Just Pakistan’s, it is a Concern of the Muslim World:
They all concisely rejected the idea of Israel as a state and raised voice for the people of Palestine. On 14 May 1948, after the creation of Israel, the Arab started. According to the lengthy report of Israel’s institution, Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs, the Jerusalem embassy in Washington was informed by American authorities that Jinnah ordered about 2,50000 rifles from Czechoslovakia during this world war and provided it to the freedom fighters.
Moreover, he ordered three middle-grade cruise ships from Italy and gave them to Egypt to fight against Israel at seasides. This action against Israel by the founder of Pakistan after their independence showed the hardline view of Pakistan’s policy against Israel.
Whenever any country recognises any state, there are three primary causes
- It is in the interest of the country
- Recognition of that state can help the country to fight against the country’s enemy.
- Ethical reasons.
So by these points, we can analyse Is Pakistan going to accept Israel or not. Recognition of Israel is not in the interest of Pakistan. Furthermore, considering the public’s perspective of being a Palestinian supporter, Pakistanis reject this idea from day one.
According to Jewish chronicles report, when the celebration of the Arab War in 1967 was held in Paris, Israel’s founder and first PM David Ben Gurion stated that
“The world Zionism movement should not be neglectful of the dangers of Pakistan to it and Pakistan should be its first target, this ideological state is a threat to our existence, this lover of the Arab is more dangerous to us than Arab itself. For that matter, it is essential for the world’s Zionism it should now take immediate steps against Pakistan. In contrast, the inhabitants of the Indian peninsula are Hindus whose hearts have been filled with hatred for Muslims”.
So, Will Pakistan Shake Hands with Israel?
The above-given statement shows us the anti-Pakistan policy of Israel, and Israel and Zionist leaders have followed this policy till now. On the other hand, Pakistan’s hardline stance on Jerusalem and support for Palestinian people show us that they can not recognise Israel ethically. So until the people of Palestine get their land and other rights till then acceptance of Israel will not be an easy way for Pakistan.
