Media Website Giants Got Down But Restored 1 Hour Later:
Several media website giants were down globally on Tuesday. These websites are as follows:
- Bloomberg News
- Financial Times
- The Guardian
In addition, Al-Jazeera Media Network, based in Qatar, has also faced some issues. France’s Le Monde newspaper was showing error messages on its website at around 10:00 GMT.
Similarly, New York Times and BBC were inaccessible but returned later. Down websites displayed the error message: “Error 503 Service Unavailable”.
Moreover, according to early reports, the error could be related to Fastly, a cloud supplier, which backs many leading websites.
Also, Fastly reported investigating the issue with its global content delivery network (CDN).
After 1 hour of the websites’ outage,
Fastly said that it was behind the issue. According to the firm, there were issues with its content delivery network (CDN). Additionally, they were working on fixing the glitch.
Moreover, websites started to be restored after about an hour of downtime.
This disruption has raised the question that the many internet infrastructures are in the hands of few companies. It has created a monopoly. Furthermore, this means if any fault occurs in these companies, it will cause mass disruption.
